The Other End Of
Lonely
J. Edney
2002
Bar fights bad clubs
All I wanna get out of
Smokey rooms
Whiskey bottles
Pick em up and knock em down
Thats how it used to be
You walked into my life
Oh how the smoke cleared away
Now I can see clearly
Though night and day
On the other end
Of being lonely and sad
Is a man who is happy
Overjoyed
Of what he has
And its you
Who makes me feel this way
Finally I know how it is
On the other end of lonely
Driving down the street
People walking to and from
Smiles on their face
But one man
Who sits all alone
Wearing barely nothing
Because he dont have it
I just look on cuz
On the other end
Is a man who was happy
Living in a house just off of first street
And then
He had a wife and they was happy
I dont know why it works this way
All I know is that he has seen
The other end of lonely
And when the time comes
And Im old and gray
My family will, kneel and pray
As I leave them in a troubled time
I hope that they know
Im in a better place dancing with the angels
Smiling on you cuz your still the one for me
And I can say
Throughout all my life Ive realized
With everything Ive been through
I had my ups and downs and I
Am on the other end of lonely
